The Perfect Man
I saw The Perfect Man tonight. For free. This is a good thing b/c I would not pay to see this movie. By all means, try to catch it on TV. It was cute. But not worth $10.
The film is a string of cliches and scenes that improbably come together to create something movie-like. Aria Wallace stole every scene she was in (and made me wonder what happened to that cute kid from Jerry Maguire). Odd to see Chris Noth as some sort of romantic lead (Det. Logan was hardly Mr. Sensitive and well, neither was Mr. Big).
Almost from the begining (which is an almost complete rip off of Mermaids) I began to count the movie cliches.
*OK, not a cliche, but too weird not to mention

- Mom throws cake at cheating boyfriend
- Movie montage, with dancing, set to cheery song.
- Movie montage, sans dancing, set to depressing music.
- Gay friend (Carson Kressley, who was pretty funny...much funnier than he is on Queer Eye)
- Funny best friends (Caroline Rhea & a very funny African American woman whose name is oddy missing from the credits on IMDB)
- Artsy, sarcastic guy
- Ditzy teen best friend
- Rip off of the standing outside a window with a boombox from Say Anything (only this version used "Lady" by STYX.....)
- A STYX cover band*
- The distraction scene, used to prevent two characters from seeing each other
*OK, not a cliche, but too weird not to mention
